gifts T he Brier Elementary PTA has voted to endorse the Simple Majority campaign.  In November, we can all show our support by approving EHJR 4204!

What is EHJR 4204?

An approval vote for resolution 4204 would amend the constitution to allow school levies to pass with a simple majority (50% + 1) rather than the supermajority requirement (60%) that is currently in place.

Why should you Approve 4204?

Local levies help our schools get the support they need to educate our kids.  The current supermajority requirement means that levies can fail even if 59% of citizens vote yes.  In 2006, out of 225 levy elections all but one received a majority vote. However, one in seven of these levies still failed because they did not receive 60% of the vote.  Levy failures disrupt school operations and force new levy elections, instead of letting schools concentrate on educating our kids.
